@Home Distance Learning Programme

The teachers and students at all Trust Schools have moved seamlessly from the physical classroom to online learning overnight ensuring no gap in their student’s education.

This is a period of transition for all and the continuity of learning has been the priority for us at TST Thanks to our @Home Distance Learning Platform, it has ensured that all other schools impacted in The Schools Trust, have been able to swiftly move from classroom teaching to our @Home Distance Learning Programme, ensuring that our students experience a continuous education programme to meet their needs.

@Home utilises a state-of-the-art, robust Distance Learning Platform to enable smooth communication between teachers and students and enhance learning by offering a programme to implement blended learning. This enables students an element of control over time, place, path, or pace. In this ever-changing world, it has proven to be most essential in enabling TST schools to move smoothly from classroom teaching to remote learning.

John Ordovas, The Schools Trust’s Chairman said, “The @Home Distance Learning Programme simplifies home-learning for all involved. It keeps everything in one place, enhances the learning experience with online lessons in real-time, invaluable in times of remote learning. For students, the @Home Programme makes all materials available anywhere, they can quickly and easily access, read and write comments, participate in discussions and utilise the calendar functionality. Students can learn at their own pace, review study materials, watch presentations and videos, creating content by editing whole class pages and recording videos. It places the learning into the hands of the learner, allowing for differentiation and the development of leadership skills.”

@Home is supporting the distance learning at TST chartered schools, with differentiation applied across Early Years and Primary to cater to the students’ needs.

Early Years: At the start of the week, teachers provide ideas, arts and crafts related to the learning topics, enabling families to be flexible on their resources, preparation time, available outdoor space and other learning factors.

Primary: Teachers provide learning opportunities for each scheduled session. The expectation is that each day, students experience a range of literacy-based sessions (reading, writing, phonics/spelling), maths (numbers, calculations, problem-solving), other subjects (science, humanities, art) and other activities set by specialist teachers (music, Lithuanian, Languages, PE).

The @Home Distance Learning Programme promotes active learning across all ages using a diverse range of methods to introduce new ideas and much more.

Whilst, you are here we would like to share some tips for all students currently at home that help create a daily schedule:

  • Wake up, get dressed and have breakfast at the normal time.
  • Decide where everyone can do their work most effectively and without distractions.
  • List the times for learning, exercise, and breaks.
  • For younger children, 20 minutes of class assignments followed by 10 minutes of physical activity might work well.
  • Older children and teens may be able to focus on assignments for longer stretches, taking breaks between subjects.
  • Schedule time for nutritious lunches and snacks.
  • Important: Don’t forget to take afternoon breaks!
  • Eat together as a family and discuss the day.
  • Enjoy more family time in the evenings, playing, reading, watching a movie or exercising together.
  • Stick with normal bedtime routines as much as possible during the week to make sure everyone gets enough sleep.
